Educational Blogs

I searched through a lot of blogs and found it was a bit difficult to find one that I liked. A lot of the blogs had loads of information and were hard to explore/navigate. I thought it was also a challenge plugging into a blog that has been developed for a long time. Blogs that had individual topics (info about the iPad) were easier to follow instead of a continuous topic that been discussed for quiet some time. I found that some of the resources posted on blogs were no longer available if you clicked on them; that was a bummer but is understandable because things change. Even though I thought looking through blogs was a somewhat challenging I still like the idea of them; I do think that they are beneficial. I found that blogs provide a lot of resources and tools as well as discuss current issues and things going on in the education/global community. I think blogs are a great way for teachers to get ideas to use in the classroom, get help with problems, share their own ideas with others, and so on. I am following the second blog (scholastic).
Blogs I explored:

http://blogs.scholastic.com/top_teaching/
http://edte.ch/blog/
http://www.techfridge.com/
Marina! I went to one of the website that you listed. I liked http://davidwarlick.com/2cents/ website the most! There were lots of articles that educators must to read it! :D
ReplyDeleteMarina,
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way about finding a blog to follow, I felt like I was choosing because I had to. All the blogs had so much information that many where hard to follow because we hadn't from the very beginning. I ended up following the same blog as you because he has so many different topics that it doesnt matter if you miss a day looking at his blog. I also liked that he was a teacher and has personal experience to relate back to.
I agree with you Marina that it was difficult to find interesting, easy to follow, and up to date educational blogs. I checked out the Scholastic blog you are going to follow and I liked it, it had all the qualities that are good in an educational blog- it seemed like its a fun blog.
ReplyDeleteI also found that there was a lot of information to sift through on each side. Once you have done so, I felt that there was a great deal of useful information. I loved how it is possible for other teachers to test out lessons and write about them and if they are great we could try them out and if they are terrrible we could just throw them out :)
ReplyDeleteI definitely judged the blogs by their titles, and some of them were interesting, but many were painful to read. There were a few sites that took me to more links that eventually led me to good blogs.
ReplyDeleteI saw that you looked at my websites, and I'm glad you liked the play based learning link. There are so many fun ideas out there, and I think we should make learning as fun as we can for our students.
We'll be following the same blog Marina! The scholastic website itself will be useful, but I love that the blog is kept up regularly and is full of ideas. I enjoyed looking at the third website you listed because the author posts an array of information on technology. In particular, the posting from May 9th caught my attention because it discussed the issue some parents were having over their district deciding to purchase iPads for a Kindergarten classroom. Some great discussion even formulated from that posting, which goes to show how beneficial blogging can be.
